SCCD 31515 – Rich Perry Quartet "Hearsay" On this CD, long time SteepleChase leader saxophonist Rich Perry teams up with Steve Lampert (tpt.), Denis Irwin (bass), and Jeff Hirshfield (drums) for an exploration into freer material than he has in past studio outings. Tony Purrone – Rascality (SCCD 31514)

SCCD 31514 – Tony Purrone Trio – "Rascality" Guitarist Purrone leads his power rhythm section (Dave Anderson – electric fretted & fretless bass and Thierry Arpino – drums) in a session covering tunes ranging from "Body and Soul" to one of Miles Davis' later compositions "Petits Machins (Little Stuff)". He swings hard and sure while tantalizing the ear with ideas that range from eccentric circus moves to phrases that are hip and creative." Recorded in March 2001, this CD marks Purrone's sixth effort as a leader for SteepleChase.

Kuno Kjærbye, Øssur Bæk, Berit Meland, Bjørn Ianke – Kjærbye: Chamber Works (KON 32317)

Composer Kuno Kjærbye (b. 1959) belongs to the younger generation of composers educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. His teachers include Ib Nørholm, among others.

Kuno Kjærbye is also active as a violinist and his compositions are often inspired by the instrument’s natural traits.

About this CD the composer comments: “ All the music on this CD is built on certain quarter-tone modes. It comes naturally to me as a violinist; your everyday scale study provides you with a sensitivity to hearing the small differences between, for example, a G sharp and an A flat.
